The contralto Candida Guida is one of the most fascinating voices of the ancient music scene and opera and with its innate theatrical skills has developed together with Alraune this program focused on two great scenes of madness of the Italian seventeenth century by Pietro Antonio Giramo: “The Fool” and “Madness from Naples”. These two pieces, real masterpieces of seventeenth-century musical theater preserved in a print of the time, are presented in a concert with extremely strong and lively colors, worthy of a Neapolitan stage of the seventeenth century in which the scene has the colors of Caravaggio, the faces of the portraits of Bernardo Cavallino and the expressiveness of an Italian language with strong colors and continuous changes of register. Theatre is in music and voice and Candida Guida doesn’t need anything else to revive the madness of love! The program was presented live in 2023 in the seasons of the Amici della Musica of Modena and the Fondazione Pietà de’ Turchini of Naples and is about to be released on CD in 2024.
